Drug Overdoses Derail Dance Music Event
Do you ever use drugs to enhance an experience such as a concert, movie, or sports event? Do you ever get high during a dance party, rave, or music festival? Have you ever accidentally taken a higher dosage than you intended to take? Drugs can completely ruin events such as these, leading to injury or even possibly death for the drug users. In just one recent case, a dance music show in Middelbury, CT had to be completely shut down after several people in attendance had to be hospitalized for suspected drug overdoses, according to police sources.
The concert, named "Adventure Land" began on a Saturday and seemed to be going normally. However, several concert-goers were taking a substance called "2C-P," which is a synthetic drug that mimics the effect of MDMA (Ecstasy). The entire concert had to be shut down after at least four people collapsed from possible drug overdoses. Apparently, they all collapsed at the same time. “It was like a light switch went off,” said Acting Police Chief Richard Wildman. In total, seven people were treated for drug-related problems at the music event.
