After being arrested and released this past week, Amanda Bynes has taken to social media to openly discuss rumors about drugs and accuse a police officer of sexual harassment. The 26 year old actress was placed under arrest Thursday evening after NYPD officers entered her apartment to address complaints from a neighbor claiming that Bynes was smoking marijuana and rolling a joint in the lobby. Police officers witnessed Bynes throwing a bong out the window of her New York apartment, and she told them that it was just a vase. She was placed under arrest and later charged with misdemeanors including tampering with evidence and illegal possession of marijuana. She was temporarily admitted to a psychiatric facility for evaluation, and the doctors determined that she was not suicidal not a danger to others.
After being released, Bynes started posting tweets about the episode denying that there were drugs involved, and that she had only opened the window for fresh air. She claimed that the arresting police officer sexually harassed her. The NYPD internal affairs department is investigating the claim of sexual harassment.
Amanda Bynes is best known for her role in the show All That in Nickelodeon, which aired in the 1990s and was very popular among teens. After All That was cancelled, The Amanda Show ran from 1999-2002. Since then, Bynes has had minor roles in a few movies but has otherwise not continued an acting career. She has had a series of legal troubles that began last spring with a DUI and two hit and run charges. It seems like she is showing early signs of a life spiraling out of control – denying any problems with drugs or alcohol, behaving erratically and running into legal problems. If Amanda Bynes is struggling with drugs or alcohol, it’s important that she seek professional help before her issues take control of her life.
